Terms of service
These are the terms you agree to when you use Jinsei. We have tried to write them the way we write everything else, so you can read them once and know where you stand.
Last updated: [date](to be confirmed)
1. Who we are
Jinsei is provided by Folio Ventures Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number [number](to be confirmed), registered address [address](to be confirmed). In these terms, we and us mean Folio Ventures Ltd, and you means the person using Jinsei.
2. What Jinsei is
Jinsei is a web app for planning the things you want to do, working out what they cost, saving towards them, and keeping what you remember afterwards. Alfred is the name of the guidance inside it. He suggests, costs, drafts and reminds. He is helpful and he is sometimes wrong, so check anything that matters before you act on it.
Jinsei is not financial, medical, legal or travel advice, and we are not a travel agent. When you book something, your contract is with the company you book it with, not with us.
3. Your account
You need an account to use Jinsei, and you need to be 18 or over. You sign in either with a code we email you or with your Google account. There is no password to remember or to lose.
Keep access to your email safe, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. If you lose the address, write to us at hello@lifebucket.co.uk and we will find another way to reach you.
4. Your first month
Your first month is free and opens everything. We do not ask for a card and nothing is charged. At the end of the month your account carries on, on the free plan.
On the free plan:
- everything you have written stays, and you can read it, edit it and export it whenever you like
- you can keep up to 3 plans on the go
- Alfred stops planning, so there is no weekly plan, no new suggestions and no saving goals
Nothing you have made is deleted or held back because you did not subscribe.
5. Paying for Jinsei
Jinsei Plus is £7.99 a month or £69.99 a year. Prices are in pounds and include VAT where it applies. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel it.
Payment is taken by Stripe, our payment provider. You enter your card details on Stripe’s own checkout page and we never see your full card number.
Friends and family you plan something with do not pay anything, however many of them there are.
If we change the price, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel rather than pay the new one.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, from Manage my subscription in Settings. Cancelling stops all future charges. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account moves to the free plan described above.
You can also delete your account entirely, from Settings. That removes your data and cannot be undone, so export first if you want a copy.
7. Your content stays yours
Everything you put into Jinsei is yours. Your plans, your notes, your photographs, your memories. We do not claim ownership of any of it and we do not sell it.
To run the service we need your permission to store your content, back it up, and show it to you and to anyone you have chosen to share it with. That includes sending the relevant parts to the suppliers who make a feature work, such as the AI that drafts a plan. You give us that permission for as long as your content is in Jinsei, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.
Our privacy notice says exactly what we hold, who we share it with and why.
8. Using it fairly
Please do not:
- break the law with it, or use it to harm or harass anyone
- upload someone else’s photographs or private details without their say-so
- try to break into the service, scrape it, or get at other people’s accounts
- resell Jinsei or pass your account to somebody else
If somebody uses Jinsei to hurt other people, we may suspend or close the account. We will tell you why, and if it can be put right we will say how.
9. What we promise, and what we do not
We will look after the service with reasonable care and skill. We cannot promise it will never be unavailable, never lose a moment of work, or that Alfred will always be right. Jinsei is provided as it is.
We are responsible to you for loss we caused that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for a booking made with somebody else. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the problem, and in every case it is limited only as far as the law allows.
We never limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit.
10. Your rights as a consumer
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and your right to change your mind about a subscription within 14 days of buying it. If anything here reads as though it takes one of those rights away, it does not.
11. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when we add or retire a feature. If a change matters to you we will tell you before it takes effect, in the app or by email. If you do not want to accept it, you can cancel and take your data with you.
12. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
13. Getting in touch
Write to us at hello@lifebucket.co.uk and a person will answer. Our postal address is [postal address](to be confirmed).
